This rule applies to everyone on our worksites, regardless of whether they work for us or not, and in real-terms it means that we:
  • only allow suitably trained, qualified, competent, medically fit and physically capable people to perform ground disturbance activities,
  • complete all pre-start documentation, including risk assessments, before starting work,
  • identify and, if necessary, isolate or remove hazards such as buried electrical cables,
  • continually monitor ground movement and environmental conditions while we are working,
  • control ground movement and prevent collapse through the appropriate use of shoring, sloping and benching,
  • establish exclusion zones using barricading, lighting and signage which are clearly visible both day and night, and
  • comply with any instructions, either written or verbal, concerning working in, or alongside marked exclusion zones.
