It is a pre-requisite for Tankered Waste Approval that the waste transporter holds an Environmental Authority (ERA57) for the transport of regulated waste in Queensland. Such authority is obtained by application to the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection.

A waste transporter may enter into an agency agreement with QUU and the Environmental Regulator to provide waste tracking data in a format other than Waste Transport Certificates. These agreements must comply with section 35 of the Environmental Protection (Waste Management) Regulation 2000.

Where an agency agreement is entered into, a waste delivery docket conforming to QUU’s requirements must still accompany each load of waste discharged to QUU’s sewerage system, and all waste tracking data provided to the regulator for such waste must also be provided to QUU. QUU will contact you to discuss your proposed agency agreement.

  • Waste transporters must comply with the requirements of the Tankered Waste Management Plan.
  • It is a regulatory requirement that all regulated and trackable waste discharged to Queensland Urban Utilities' sewerage system be accompanied by a properly completed Waste Transport Certificate, unless an agency agreement has been entered into under section 81U of the Environmental Protection Regulation 2008.
  • For all waste discharged to Queensland Urban Utilities’ sewerage system, the waste transporter must provide a waste delivery docket conforming to Queensland Urban Utilities' requirements (as described in the Tankered Waste Management Plan).
  • It is a requirement that all drivers attending Queensland Urban Utilities' discharge locations at first undertake induction training for the site (in accordance with current induction procedures).
  • Tankered Waste Approval holders are authorised to discharge Deemed Quality Tankered Waste at Queensland Urban Utilities' discharge locations in accordance with the Tankered Waste Management Plan.
