You can achieve a productive, water savvy green space and save on water bills, all with careful plant choice and preparation.
Water saving is the driver in developing our garden layout. Consideration was given to the current surrounding landscape and environment. This included slope, temperature, available sun, surrounding vegetation and established trees.
- Take the time to observe the different areas of your garden – sunny, shady, windy etc. This will help when selecting plants that are suited to those conditions.
- Consider the topography of your garden. Choose hardy, deep rooted plants for sloping areas.
- Group plants with similar watering needs together. It’s called ‘hydrozing’ and will help you use water efficiently.
