The project involves decommissioning sections of current water mains and installing new water mains, with work on both the footpaths and several streets.
To enable connection works to occur, there will be a temporary after-hours water shutdown at Lamington National Park Road, Canungra from 10pm, Thursday 8 October to 6am, Friday 9 October 2015.
From Wednesday 5 August 2015, new water mains will be installed on the west side of Lamington Park Road from Coburg Road, continuing northbound and turning a sharp right into Kidston Street and ending near King Street.
Works are expected to take 10 weeks to complete, weather and ground conditions permitting. Project work hours will be 7am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
Construction has now been completed in Pine Street (between Finch Street and Jerome Street), Appel Street (between Franklin and Tamborine Street), all of Tamborine Street, Kidston Street (from Tamborine Street to the water reservoir), Coburg Road and Franklin Street.
As mentioned, the project team has made every effort to avoid affecting peak tourist commuter times on the weekends by scheduling all upgrades during the day. We will continue to work closely with the project contractor to keep disturbances down and prevent any inconvenience as much as possible.
As traffic lanes will be temporarily closed near work site locations, you are likely to see traffic management and signage to reduce disruption and maintain two way traffic flow.
Noise and dust
You may experience temporary noise and dust disturbances caused by excavation and work vehicles entering the work sites and storage area during project work hours.
We will contact you if our work sites will restrict your driveway access, but most driveways won't be affected.
Our project team will ensure pedestrian and bicycle access around work sites is available at all times.
Some on-street car spaces near work areas will be unavailable in the short term.
Towards the end of the project, there may be some interruptions to your water supply when the new water main is connected to the current system. If you are affected, you will be contacted at least 48 hours before any water shutdown takes place.
