South Kangaroo Point

A new sewer line has now been installed in the South Kangaroo Point which will work in parallel with the existing system to significantly increase the sewer capacity.

Installation of the new sewer line took place using small diameter tunnel boring machines rather than open trenching, to reduce the impact on local roads.

Project update

Construction started in March 2015 and was completed early October 2015.

We thank you again for your understanding and patience while these essential works were carried out.

The upgrade was carried out to increase the capacity of Woolloongabba’s sewerage system to cater for the increasing development and population density in the area.

The Woolloongabba Sewer Capacity Upgrade was delivered in two parts. Part A took place within Buranda and Stones Corner from February 2010 to March 2011. Part B work took place in Woolloongabba and South Kangaroo Point from August 2012 to July 2015. Queensland Urban Utilities will continue commissioning the new sewer line in the coming months.
