Urban Utilities is committed to excellence in water and wastewater services that meet the evolving needs of our customers and enhance the liveability of our communities.

What is happening?

Urban Utilities in conjunction with our delivery partner, Utilitia and Stantec will soon begin to obtain samples from our wastewater network from multiple locations around Brisbane.

These locations include:

  • North Quay
  • CBD
  • Fortitude Valley
  • New Farm

  • Hamilton
  • St Lucia
  • Toowong

Why is this happening?

The sampling program is a key activity to identify odour hotspots and investigate solutions.

When is this happening?

A rehearsal run will take place on 7 October 2023 from 7pm to 1:30am 8 October 2023 to identify any adjustments that need to be made.

Sampling is scheduled to commence from 17 October 2023, and will take place over two week period. The sampling will be taken at different times during the works dependant on the type of sampling required:

  • Liquid Grab Sampling will occur intermittently over a 24 hour period.
  • Trade Waste Sampling will occur over a 24 hour period at select locations.
  • Gas grab sampling will be taken over a 14 day period.

On 24 October 2023 to 25 October 2023 crews will be changing the batteries in the gas sampling equipment.

On 1 November 2023 instrument retrieval will occur.

We thank you for your patience and understanding whilst we complete this essential work.

We will work closely with our partners to minimise the impact to residents and businesses in these areas. Communication activities will take place before work starts.
