Urban Utilities is committed to excellence in water and wastewater services that meet the evolving needs of our customers and enhance the liveability of our communities.
As part of this commitment, we will be upgrading important infrastructure across our region to future proof against potential flood damage to ensure safe long-term wastewater services. Our delivery partner, Downer WSP and their subcontractors, will soon commence essential works to upgrade the Christie Street Pump Station.
This pump station is located at 22A Christie St, Canungra and is a critical part of the sewer system for the Canungra area. The pump station shares driveway access via the adjacent Ambulance Station driveway. Due to new extensions of the Ambulance Station the existing access has been removed, resulting in the need to provide a permanent access solution.
The project will involve the installation of a new driveway to provide vehicle access to the existing sewage pumpstation besides the Queensland Ambulance Station on Christie Street, Canungra. The works also includes the relocation of a sewerage overflow discharge pipe at the rear of the pumpstation.
This pump station upgrade will future proof the networks’ reliability and ensure safe long-term service delivery to the community for the next 50 years. By undertaking these works we will provide a more permanent access solution for the pump station and extend the service life of the asset.
Construction will commence from mid-April 2023 and is expected to take up to two months to complete, weather and site conditions permitting. Works will take place at the Christie Street Pump Station, located at 22A Christie Street, Canungra. Crews, trucks and equipment will be in the area during the works.

Tree and vegetation removal
We understand local parks and resident fauna and flora are highly valued by the community.
To allow for these essential works, there may be tree and vegetation removal within private property near the pump station.
We have gone through an extensive process of design and approvals to ensure every effort has been made to minimise tree removal where possible. Trees marked for removal in the construction access area will be removed in accordance with Ipswich City Council and State Government requirements. These activities will be monitored and approved by a qualified Arborist and a Fauna Spotter.
Post construction, we will restore all work areas as close to original condition as possible and will undertake landscaping to ensure the area blend with the existing environment as much as possible.
