What’s happening?

Our delivery partner, Downer WSP, will soon commence work on the water reservoir located at 73-77 Appel Street, Canungra. The project will involve refurbishment works to the existing reservoir including a new roof, external ladder, and pipe replacements.

Construction will commence from May 2023 and will take up to five months to complete, weather and site conditions permitting.

What to expect during construction?
  • Site establishment and laydown areas at the existing reservoir site.
  • Construction-related noise, dust and minor vibrations from machinery and vehicle movements
  • Changed traffic conditions within the reservoir site and access road
  • Safety barriers and signage around the work site, including monitoring and CCTV activities
Work hours

Construction is expected to take up to five months to complete, weather and site conditions permitting.

Most of the work will be done during the day, between 6:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, and 8:00am to 4:00pm Saturday’s. There may also be occasional night work if required during the project. We will notify the community in advance if Saturday works are planned.

Our commitment

The project team will minimise the construction impacts to the extent possible, including managing noise and dust at the source, utilising traffic control and reviewing work methods as required. We will keep directly impacted neighbours informed by providing regular construction updates during the project. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete this essential work.

 

We work closely with construction contractors to minimise the impact to residents and businesses in the area. Communication activities will take place before work starts.

What to expect during construction?
  • Site investigations and location of existing services.
  • Construction-related noise and dust from equipment, machinery, and vehicle movements.
  • Possible water interruptions. Customers will be notified at 3 working days prior to any planned temporary disruption to water supply.
  • Queensland Fire and Emergency Services will be notified at least 48 hours before any temporary water shutdowns.
  • Dialysis patients - Queensland Health will be notified at least 48 hours before any temporary water shutdowns.       
Our Commitment

The project team will manage the construction impacts by:

  • Minimising noise and dust and managing both at the source, to the extent possible.
  • Using traffic management to ensure the safety of road users and pedestrians when required.
  • Temporarily restoring disturbed roads to allow for continued use while work is in progress.
  • Restoring affected roads as close to their original condition as possible, after the work is completed.

The following communication activities will be carried out before work starts, as required:
  • A notification letter is delivered to neighbouring residents
  • Community engagement is carried out as required.
  • Queensland Health and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services will receive notification of timeframes and maps of the work footprint before any interruption to the water supply.
