About the project

Urban Utilities is committed to providing the highest level of water and wastewater services. As part of this commitment, our delivery partner, Downer WSP, and their contractors are commencing works to upgrade the existing pump station near Hanlon Street, Bundamba.

Project delivery

This upgrade forms part of a work package delivered in three stages:

  • Stage 1: The second temporary switch room installation has now been completed, allowing the pump station to run optimally again
  • Stage 2: Hanlon Street Sewage Pump Station Switchboard and Platform involves installing a new elevated platform and placing the new switchboard and future electrical equipment on top for flood immunity and quick recovery of the area during flooding events.
  • Stage 3: Hanlon Street Sewage Pump Station involves the construction of a new pump station to meet demand and improve capacity.

Works will take place near the Hanlon Street Pump Station, Hanlon Street, Bundamba, located near Hart Street, Bundamba.  Crews, trucks and equipment will be in the area during the works.

Wastewater Services

There will be no interruption to individual property sewerage services during these works.

Work locations

Works will take place at the Hanlon Street Pump Station, Hanlon Street near Hart Street, Bundamba.  Holding area will be also be located at the Haig Street Pump Station.

The upgrade will improve overall network reliability, enable flood resilience and accommodate for future growth to ensure long-term service delivery to the local community.

Restoration activities

Post construction, we will restore all work areas as close to original condition as possible and will undertake landscaping to ensure the area blend with the existing environment as much as possible.

How will impacts be managed?

Downer WSP and their contractors will minimise the construction impacts to the extent possible, including managing noise and dust at the source and reviewing work methods as required.

Barriers and signage will be installed around work areas to keep everyone safe.

Post construction, we’ll restore work area’s as close to the original condition as possible and landscaping will ensure the above ground components blend with the surrounding environment as much as possible.

Our commitment

There will be no interruption to your sewerage services during these works. We’ll minimise construction impacts to the extent possible, including managing noise and dust at the source, utilising traffic control and reviewing work methods as required.

We’ll keep the community and directly impacted residents informed as works progress.
