You can rely on us to keep things flowing, and from time-to-time we need to upgrade your local sewer network.
Our contractor, AWD Civil, will soon start work on the sewer running across Bulimba Creek, between Tillack Park, Mansfield and Turubul Crescent Park, Carindale.
What to expect?
The upgrade will involve installation of a new sewer pipe, maintenance hole and two new support piers at Bulimba Creek, before decommissioning and removing the existing pipe.
The work is expected to take about 12 weeks to complete (subject to weather and site conditions). There will be construction-related noise, dust and changed traffic conditions during the works, which will include deep excavation.
Site establishment will take place onsite from Wednesday 16 September 2020. Activities will include installation of barriers and signage around work areas to keep everyone safe.
There will be temporary closures of the Bulimba Bikeway only during vehicle movements into and out of the works’ area. Controlled by traffic spotters, bikeway closures will be kept to a minimum to maintain access for pedestrians and cyclists
The project team will minimise the construction impacts to the extent possible, including managing noise and dust at the source and utilising traffic control.
We will keep directly impacted neighbours informed by providing regular construction updates during the project.
The work will be done during the day between 7.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional work on Saturdays between 7am and 2pm, if required.
There are some weed species such as Camphor Laurels, along with native trees within the site footprint either side of the creek where crews will be working. Some of these trees will be removed to facilitate access and construction of the new sewer pipe.
Any trees marked with a ‘blue dot’ will be removed in accordance with a Brisbane City Council permit and replaced by Council in approved areas after the work is complete.
We know local parks and resident fauna and flora are highly valued by the community. We will ensure any temporary impacts on the parks’ amenity, such as the removal of trees will be offset as part of the site rehabilitation at the end of works. Offset planting and reinstatement works will be managed by Council.
Thank you for your patience during this important work.
