Queensland Urban Utilities is challenging local kids to create their very own A-maze-ing Mega Maze at this year’s Ipswich Festival.

The activity will be held from Thursday, April 7 to Saturday, April 9 at d’Arcy Doyle Place and on Saturday, April 16 in the Ipswich City Mall.

Queensland Urban Utilities spokesperson, Michelle Cull, said the A-maze-ing Mega Maze involves building objects and structures out of cardboard boxes.

“Children are invited to plot a course, build hidey-holes and pop-up areas, then explore it all,” she said.

“It’s a fantastic way to promote environmental awareness and sustainability through recycling and creativity.”

Queensland Urban Utilities is proud to support the Ipswich Festival for the first time and will be on deck handing out reusable water bottles.

“All that building and playing is thirsty work,” Ms Cull said. “That’s why we’re encouraging kids and their parents to pick up their free re-usable water bottle and fill up on tap water.

“Turning to tap isn’t only great for hydration; it’s good for the environment and saves you money.

“Australians spend $600 million on bottled water each year. While a one litre bottle of water can cost around $3, tap water costs less than one cent per litre.

“So if you’re heading down to the Ipswich Festival come and visit our Turn to Tap team.

“We’ll be at d’Arcy Doyle Place April 7 to 9 from 10am to 2pm and the Ipswich City Mall on April 16 from 1pm to 5.30pm.”
