Rochdale water upgrade
Queensland Urban Utilities has begun work on a $22 million upgrade to the local water network in Rochedale.

The project includes the construction of 6km of new water pipes, a new pump station and two new reservoirs over the next few years.

Queensland Urban Utilities spokesperson, Michelle Cull, said the upgrade would cater for future growth.

“Rochedale has been earmarked for a major residential and commercial development, so we need to increase the capacity of the local water network,” she said.

“Population in the area is expected to increase from 5,000 people to 25,000 by 2026, which will mean a lot more taps running and toilets flushing.”

Queensland Urban Utilities is investing $412 million in capital works across its five local council regions in 2019/20, with the Rochedale upgrade one of the biggest projects in Brisbane.

“The new water pipelines are being installed along Gardner Rd, Arise Blvd, Rochedale Rd and Miles Platting Rd, with construction due to be completed in the next few weeks,” she said.

"We’d like to thank the local community for its patience while we carry out this essential work.”

The new water pump station and reservoirs are at design phase and subject to development approval. They will be constructed when required over the next three to four years.
